What Is Medicare?
Medicare is a national health insurance program for individuals who meet at least one of these requirements:

65 or older

Younger than 65 with a qualifying disability

Any age with a diagnosis of end-stage renal disease or ALS.​​
​​​Medicare Eligibility
To be eligible for Medicare, you must be a US citizen or legal resident. Legal residents must have lived in the US for at least five (5) years in a row, including the five years just before applying for Medicare.
To apply for your Medicare benefit through Social Security, you may:
